West Mains of Turin is a family run stock farm in an elevated position with panoramic views southwards over Rescobie Loch. It is situated just over 4 miles east of Forfar on the Forfar - Montrose road (B9113). Ample car parking space is available (at guests' risk). Our accommodation is of a high standard providing en suite and private bathrooms with radio alarm clocks and tea/coffee making facilities. There are spacious lounges with open fires to relax in, with colour TV etc. Farmhouse - 19th Century house with later additions occupies a prominent position with south facing views over Rescobie Loch. Guests are welcomed by a cup of tea and home made shortbread biscuits. Guest Lounge - This is a comfortable room with colour TV and woodburning log fire for guests to relax. It has a panoramic view overlooking Rescobie Loch and looks out into our well maintained walled garden. A warm welcome awaits you at 'Cloisterbank'. The guest house is family run by the new owners The Ali Family who have welcomed guests from Britain and many overseas countries for the last 10 years. Our establishment is situated at the north western end of Dundee, yet only 5 minutes by car into the city centre. We are on the main bus routes to the centre and also to the country. We also have direct bus links to Ninewells hospital for those attending the many specialised surgical courses held there. Both the University of Dundee and Abertay University are 5 minutes by car or 8 minutes by bus. We are located close to the main A90 giving easy access to the main routes to Edinburgh/Glasgow/Aberdeen and all points North or South. The railway station is approx 8 minutes by taxi and Dundee airport is approx 10 minutes away by taxi. For those coming to work in the city all the main technology parks and industrial estates are within a 5 minute drive with easy traffic free access. Tesco's ,ain offices and distribution centre are close at hand as are their major supermarkets, including their new superstore presently under construction. The soon to be Asda superstore due to start construction soon is a 5 minute drive. Leisure activities of various types are all close at hand. We have Downfield golf course only 4 minutes away and the municipal course at Camperdown and Caird parks the same distance away. There are also approx thirty five other courses between 5 and twenty miles from us. Including the championship links at St Andrews and Carnoustie, with again easy access routes. Trout fishing is available near at hand being only a 6 mile drive. For those seeking sea fishing, this can be had at Arbroath where regular fishing boat trips can be obtained. Arbroath being a half hour drive. Closer to home for something to do in the evenings we have ten pin bowling, multi screen cinema, a large new ice rink, pubs and restaurants all within a short walking distance. As is a large and very lovely park for those who like a stroll in the evening. Should you like to venture slightly further, the suburb of Broughty Ferry with its multitude of smaller shops and many eating places and pubs is a 15 minute drive away. Some of the smaller pub restaurants in Broughty Ferry offer a very high standard of cuisine a reasonable cost. Broughty Ferry also has some very fine mansions built for the wealthy jute barons in the hey day of Dundee's industrial heritage, and is worth a stroll around, as is Broughty beach which extends right out the Tay estuary. All our rooms at Cloisterbank have comfortable beds, colour televisions and tea and coffee making facilities, H & C pay phones are available as are fax facilities. All prices include a full cooked breakfast plus a choice of cereals and fruit juice. Vegetarian breakfasts are available.
