The area also has the Centre for Alternative Techonology in it at Machynlleth and Rock Mill is at Llandysul and this is the last of the working waterwheel-powered Welsh woollen mills.

Broniwan is a small, organic farm close to the west coast of Wales in Ceredigion, (Cardiganshire). We welcome guests to our home, a traditional stone Victorian house built originally for the local doctor in 1867 by his grandfather, who lived in the earlier eighteenth century house, now a converted barn. There are lovely views of the Preseli hills from pine-panelled windows. Beech trees lining the drive lead up to the gardens surrounding the house. There are forty five acres of meadow and grassland plus a small stream for guests to explore. Two eager dogs are keen to show people around, if allowed. There are two pretty double bedrooms. One with ensuite shower, the other with private bath and shower. Each bedroom has tea-making facilities. The dining room and sitting room, furnished with country antiques, books and water-colours, look out onto the terraced lawn where finches, nuthatches and our woodpecker come to the feeder. Meals for guests are prepared from home-grown produce using our own organic beef, eggs, fruit and vegetables where possible. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine. Ten minutes drive takes you to the coastal paths and beaches. The River Teifi and Welsh Wildlife centre with its otters are nearby. Gardens at Llanerchaeron, at the National Botanical gardens and at Aberglasney are an easy distance away. Rates : From £38 per person per night. Children are welcome over the age of 11. No smoking. We think our home cured bacon is something really special and we are always looking for something new to do with laver bread. One very refined elderly welsh lady dared herself to try this most Welsh of Welsh dishes for the first time. She thoroughly enjoyed it and was instantly converted to being a 'Bara Lawr' fan. You will find Abercoed Farmhouse situated on the outskirts of the "smallest" town in Ceredigion namely Tregaron. There is bed and breakfast, camping, and can accommodate up to six touring caravans/motor homes on the beautiful 4 acre site situated between the rolling hills of Wales with views of mountains in the background. Tregaron, which is a 10 minute walk away, has all amenities including banks, post office as well as pubs, cafe, a real butchers and take aways for campers who do not like to cook! Travelling to Abercoed takes you through the Cambrian Mountains, with its valleys cut out from the last ice age, forming high sides and flat valley floors along which run fresh, clear rivers from the upper lands, some have even found a spot to pull over, dipped in a cup and tasted the untainted mountain elixior. You can approach Abercoed from the south coast or the north coast of Wales, being approximately halfway between the two . The farmhouse itself is from the Georgian period and is built with thick stone walls, keeping the place cool in summer and warm in winter, Although extensive modernisation and rebuilding has taken place throughout, it has been done with a caring hand and an eye to detail. The people who run Abercoed, Jane and Steve, fell in love with the place when they first saw it and believe you will too. Entering the farmhouse through the front door, you feel the peacefulness envelope you and you begin to unwind, with the dining room to the left, where you will be served your breakfast in the morning, then you go upstairs to the 2 double and 2 single rooms, all carefully redecorated and with 3 having views over the Teifi Rover and its about a 15 minutes walk to Tregaron whilst the last room looks over the back garden. A small stream runs down the boundaries on one side of Abercoed, so in Spring time there is the possibility of frogs and other small fauna and flora associated with streams and areas that have not been used by humans on a daily basis.
