Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Cark in Cartmel in the Lake District's South Lakes Peninsula. The house offers first class accommodation in an unspoilt rural location close to some of the areas most popular attractions. We have information on many places of interest in our entrance hall. We have five rooms, four being en-suite and one with a private bathroom. The guest rooms have all be renovated and furnished with quality bedding and furniture.The bath and shower rooms have been refitted to a high standard. Each room has a TV DVD combo television, a hospitality tray and a hair dryer. There is an iron and ironing board available. Room 1 A ground floor double room : The ground floor bedroom is also a spacious double en-suite room with a bath and shower combined. Room 2 A family room : The en-suite family room, with a double bed and twin or bunk beds, is very spacious and can accommodate a family of four or four adults and still have pleanty of room for a cot. Room 3 A twin room : Bedroom 3 is a twin room with its own bathroom across the landing. We provide a dressing gown for your convenience. Room 4 A double room : Bedroom 4 is a comfortable double room with an en-suite shower room. The Coach House Room a self contained family unit : Private access from the patio garden takes you upstairs. On the landing there is a bathroom to one side and a semi open plan lounge and bedroom to the other. This room offers luxury as a double room or a spacious family room. The name of this humble establishment was acquired from Richard de Gylpin, a Norman Knight who lived here after fighting the crusades and upon whose arrival found the local populate to be menaced by a distinctly unsavoury boar. The wild and savage beast had done away with numerous victims before disappearing into the dense neck of the woodland back to its secret lair. With beauitiful backdrop of the Lake district fells, the views across the sea to Scotland are spectacular to behold. The Solway Coast is one of the most beautiful and relatively undiscovered coastlines in Britain, and the area around Allonby has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty', and is a haven for a variety of wildlife. The Ship Hotel is a grade II listed building which was once a 17th century coaching inn on the Workington to Carlisle road. It is now a comfortable, owner managed hotel in a peaceful seaside village, offering a warm welcome to visitors to the Solway Coast and the nearby Lake District. The Border Country, Lake District, Hadrians Wall and the historic city of Carlisle are all within easy travelling distance. Being on the sea front, the hotel commands unobstructed views across the Solway Firth to the Dumfries and Galoway hills. There are golf courses at both Silloth and Maryport which are approximately 5 miles distant in either direction. The bars have real fires and exposed beams as seen by Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins when they stayed here in 1857.
