The Rosemont offers a very high standard of accommodation at great value for money prices. The Blue Ball Inn has a history dating back to 1385, the construction of a thatch over cob and flint provides the atmosphere of a bygone age and a timelessness which is felt when entering this fine old inn. Destroyed in March 2006, rebuilt with tender care and completed at the end of September 2007 we believe we have succeeded in recapturing the unique atmosphere. Run by the same family since 1912 and the present generation of Roger, Linda and their daughter Rebecca extend a warm Devon welcome to all their guests. Visiting us is simple, as we are only 20 minutes from Exeter and we have a large and well-lit car park. Situated in the picturesque village of Sidford, we are only a few minutes from the M5 motorway and the A303 carriageway. We are ideally placed for visiting all of the locations in Devon, the beautiful south coast and its stunning walks are only a ten minute drive and Exeter is only 25 minutes away. Nearby are the beautiful seaside towns of Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Beer and others as well as Crealy Adventure Park for the children. Hillside House is a beautiful building dating from the 1790s, though parts of it are much older. According to local tradition it was once a dairy, and the oldest part may date from as early as the 1400s. It is listed (Grade II) as a building of historical interest. The building has been used as a bed and breakfast since the 1940s. Like many old buildings it has settled a bit and you will fail to find any walls or floors which are straight or corners which are perfectly square. For many of our guests this is part of its charm. The décor sympathetically combines many original features with bright, tasteful colours and period furniture. Each room has a television, hair-drier, tea/coffee making facilities and either en-suite or private bath/shower room. Double, twin or single rooms are available. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Packed lunches are available on request and we are able to arrange kit transfer for walkers. We are a non-smoking establishment. We offer a four-course breakfast in our dining-room where a large selection of books and magazines (many of them about Exmoor) are available for our guests to peruse. Our aim is to provide a restful and relaxing stay on our 250 acre mixed farm of dairy, beef and sheep. Guests are welcome to wander over the farm and help feed the animals. We are one hour's drive from The Eden Project and ideally situated on the Devon / Cornwall borders only 10 minutes drive from the sandy surfing beaches at Bude and half a mile from the village with its pub and post office. The area has numerous places to visit, including historic towns, National Trust properties, gardens, arts and crafts galleries. Golf, fishing and a weekly livestock market are four miles away at Holsworthy. Clovelly and Tintagel are within half an hours drive. There are swimming pools at Bude and Holsworthy and numerous sandy beaches and coves. We have three large, tastefully furnished family rooms sleeping up to four. Two are ensuite with shower, WC and wash basin and the other has a separate, private bathroom. All rooms have remote control colour TV. and beverage facilities. The house has night storage heaters with log fires in the dining room and lounge. There are separate tables in the dining room and the lounge is furnished with antique furniture and a colour TV.
