Distance: Miles
The Strathmore Arms is well known to locals and to many travellers, though its semi remote location and being on a no through road means that you have to be going there for a reason. The Strathmore Arms is named after the family who own much of the land South of the river Tees in the Upper Teesdale area and whose family home still sits at the end of the road that passes the pub. The pub serves real ales (often local) and simple snacks are usually available at the bar. Evening meals are only available if booked with accomodation. Bed and breakfast accomodation is available in double, twin or family rooms, offering an ideal base for those wishing to explore the beautiful upper Teesdale. Most popular with walkers, cyclists, fishermen and people interested in the unique flora and fauna of the area, this traditional pub also features a pool table and beer garden. A camping field behind the pub offers a few small pitches available to walkers and cyclists (individuals and couples only). The area of upper Teesdale is famous for its walking and this side of the river Tees is no exception. There are walks leading to Low Force and High Force, Englands largest single water fall. There is also a route that will take you all the way to Caldron Snout and Cow Green reservoir. So take a break and drop in its worth the trip.
