Situated a stones throw from the Castle, Old Fishergate House is one of the oldest houses in St Andrews dating from around 1650. Originally it was five fisherman’s houses but it has been beautifully renovated to make one comfortable house. The house was awarded a Pride of Place Certificate in 2005 by the St Andrews Preservation Trust. The house is very well situated in North Castle Street with the University, Byre Theatre, shops and the golf courses all within walking distance. Angus and Jennifer Mitchell have lived here since 1988 although it was in Jennifer’s family since 1808 except for a period of 27 years from 1961. Many of the period details of the house have been kept intact and it has a natural welcoming charm creating a relaxed atmosphere and a haven from the bustling world outside. Old Fishergate House is a member of the Scottish Tourist Board and has a grading of 4 Stars for Bed and Breakfast accommodation. There are two suites in the house both with twin beds, en-suite facilities and a private sitting room. Bedrooms are individually furnished and create a feeling of spacious luxury. Bell House Bed & Breakfast run by Jane Pearce is a traditional stone built house five minutes walking distance from Dunfermline town centre. It is listed as a three-star bed and breakfast by the Scottish Tourist Board and offers three well presented and comfortable bedrooms. The property dates back to 1897 and boasts many period features including Victorian cornicing throughout much of the lower level. In 2005 our rooms were refurbished and tastefully decorated and include immaculate ensuite or private facilities. There is free on street parking directly outside the property. Bell House is perfect for families or couples of all ages. A fold out double bed and cot can be arranged for a larger family with children. Each room has a mini-guide to Dunfermline and the surrounding area, detailing the many attractions and what they entail. Jane is happy to share her knowledge of the area with guests to ensure they make the most of their time in Dunfermline. There is so much to see and do that planning is essential! A delicious full Scottish or Continental breakfast awaits you when you arise which is served in the breakfast room. Jane is delighted to cater for any dietary request and will purchase special ingredients if given notice. Our village cafe and licensed guest rooms are located in the centre of historic Crail, the accommodation is snug and cosy and gives you a perfect base by the sea to visit the pretty fishing villages of Fifes East Neuk. All our bedrooms are on the upper floor of our property, everything has been spruced up yet again, thats the third time in three years and it keeps the place gleaming,we just need to update the photos of our rooms , sorry about that! Seaview is a twin room with separate bathroom, views from this room are a delight and if you find it difficult to get to sleep you can always count the stars, only to be woken up with a lovely sunrise. The room is a favourite with walkers who like the idea of soaking in the bath after a good day on the Coastal Path. Elie is a cosy double with en suite bathroom and shower,it looks out across the village street. Like all our rooms it is furnished to a high standard and consists of flat screen television, hairdryer, tourist information, tea & coffee etc Crail is a spacious room sleeping up to three adults with further options for families and is ideal for mum, dad and the wee one, the en suite bathroom with shower has plenty of space and the room can also be let for twin occupancy, just ask. Our wee cafe wakes up the day with breakfast, followed up by homebaking, speciality coffees and great beers or wine. This year we are specialising on Scottish brews but will still be sourcing the lovely Belgian fruit beers that everyone enjoyed last summer. Drop in for a light lunch or drink, sit in the garden or watch Crail go by from the coffee shop. If you are staying with us for a couple of nights or more then you can take our bicycles and along the Fife Coastal Path. The views are magnificent and we have plenty of other suggestions for walking, fishing and birdwatching. Parties can rent our upper floor and benefit from reduced rates for stays of two nights or more, just pick up the phone and speak to Graham or Edna and we will gladly explain what we have to offer.
