This Victorian 3 star town house offers modern facilities, full breakfasts, a very warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and value for money. It is widely recommended and has featured in "Which" guides. Parking is unrestricted in front of the hotel and usually there is space within 30metres walk. If one is planning to stay for any major event, however, the parking can become clogged with people leaving cars and walking into town. Please mention any problems one may have when booking and we will try to alleviate them. There are two steps up to the front door, no ramps as there are no ground floor rooms for wheelchair access. 15 steps up to first floor, usually fine for walking stick users if they have booked this floor. Guests with hearing difficulties manage very well as long as they are accompanied, due to difficulties hearing a fire alarm. It is no problem to write notes for communication. We welcome guests with visual impairments if accompanied, but as often only one person is on duty, we cannot always offer physical guidance (the owner is disabled himself). Guide dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Most rooms have En-suite showers rather than baths. Wherever possible we try to accommodate guests and offer a friendly, personal service. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries. We also have a self-catering apartment available - please see our website for more details. Rates: From £39 per person per night. From £59 per room per night based on 2 people sharing. From £69 to £79 per family room per night. Children are welcome. No smoking. Sorry, no pets. Off street parking. The West Usk Lighthouse is a cosy bed and breakfast situated near the City of Newport, Gwent, at the junction of the Severn and the Usk Estuaries, overlooking the Bristol Channel, now also a small wedding venue. Our guests come for a relaxing short break, though we do have some lighthouse enthusiasts who stay longer. We have had over 20 marriage proposals at the lighthouse. You can re-take your vows on top of the lighthouse, shouting it as loud as you want! We can arrange for someone to help you do this. We can take you in the Roller to the local full a la carte restaurant, with chilled champagne for the journey, or we can order flowers and balloons for a birthday treat. The lighthouse is also suitable for small groups of family, friends and hen nighters. We have a waterbed and a couple of 4 poster beds, all en-suite facilities, with colour TV, and tea/coffee making. All the rooms are wedge-shaped. A stone spiral staircase takes you to the first floor where all the letting rooms are. We also have a hot tub on the roof garden, which has a ' holiday in the sun' feel about it. You can relax there and watch the sun at dawn or dusk or follow a group of shooting stars on their way down There are barbecue facilities for anyone who wants to have a go. Great fun for groups. We also have an infrared sauna for detoxing or for pleasure. We have a civil ceremony license for up to 25 guests.
