Converted into a private dwelling in 1989, was originally built as the stabling and coach house for the local doctor in 1864. Rachel and Stephen Wright [and their cat, Lady] are waiting to welcome you to their home in this delightful part of Gloucestershire. The Old Coach House has two en suite bedrooms“The Vatch” which is on the first floor, and “The Courtyard” which is on the ground floor for easy access and leading onto the courtyard area. Both have been recently upgraded and refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast, giving a choice of a good hearty cooked “English” or the lighter “Continental”, is served in the dining room, or if the weather is good then breakfast can be provided in the courtyard. All produce is sourced locally or home made. Set within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it is only four miles from the busy market town of Stroud with its award winning weekly Farmers’ Market every Saturday, and the delightful Market town of Nailsworth with its individual, independent shops. Eastcombe is also within easy reach of the historic Roman town of Cirencester, Cheltenham with its the shopping, theatres and restaurants and the ancient inland port of Gloucester with its exquisite Norman Cathedral, historic docks with visiting sailing ships and new shopping outlet. Located in the heart of Regency Cheltenham, Hanover House is an attractive elegant Grade-II listed Italianate style early Victorian townhouse built in 1848. The house is steeped in history, internally reflecting Regency elegance and externally the fashionable architectural style brought back from Italy by wealthy Britons on the Grand Tour. Hanover House is our home and integrates B&B visitors into an informal family atmosphere. The three guest bedrooms are named after individuals with a local Cheltenham or house connection or with the arts. Each bedroom has either a private or en-suite bathroom. A selection of teas and coffee with fresh milk and biscuits are provided along with a decanter of sherry to ease any stress. Electric blankets are fitted for additional comfort to use during the winter and inclement weather. All bedrooms have a radio-alarm and bookcases well stocked with reading material for browsing, while Wi-Fi is available throughout the house for those who cannot be separated from the Internet. Breakfast is served in the spacious dining room, fully appointed with original features including fireplace, and which looks out over the pretty Victorian walled garden. Breakfast, in the 'green' tradition of Alastair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' is organic and consists of local produce where at all possible. A pot-pourri of fruit compotes, fresh yoghurts and fruit juices, cereal, including home-made muesli starts you off. Bacon and Sausages are procured locally and come from Gloucestershire, as do the eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes. Eggs are organic and free range and provided by a farm just to the north of Cheltenham. Other food comes from the local farmer's market held regularly on Cheltenham's Promenade. The jam and marmalade and fresh bread is all homemade. We cater fully for vegetarians. Hanover House provides an excellent focus for visiting the Cotswolds, Malverns or Forest of Dean. It is located in the heart of Regency Cheltenham, within 2 minutes walk of the renowned Cheltenham Ladies' College and a large number of excellent restaurants suiting all culinary tastes. The superb, fashionable shopping and dining emporia located within historic Montpellier and along the tree-lined Promenade, hosting regular farmer and continental markets, are within a very short walk, together with the multiplex cinema, the Everyman Theatre and the Town Hall. The town is renowned for, apart from its parks and shops, its festivals, including the Gold Cup at the racecourse a mile and a half away and the string of world famous Literary, Music, Science, Jazz, Folk and Cricket festivals, with venues at the Pitville Pump Room, Centaur arena and other theatres around the town.
