Countryside B.& B. in converted School on Chatsworth Estate land bought for the building in 1884. The main building is full of character having two bedrooms; one double en-suite family room (sleeps 4+ cot if required). Children have a gallery space with two single beds. The second is a small double which can be used for single occupancy with access to the main bathroom. The third bedroom is separate from the School sleeping two, en-suite, with it's own sitting room cum. kitchen/diner. There is direct access to the garden, with secure off-road parking, hot tub and barbecue area for use of all guests.

The large living room in the school is also for everyone's use and has a log-burning stove, breakfast and dining table (take-away food orders allowed here), internet wireless broadband. The baby grand piano and musical instruments available to encourage visiitors to create their own music or prepare for recording sessions at Meadow Farm Studios (01773 740264) in Bridle Lane nearby. There are also table games and another room which is for crafts such as Pottery, Painting and Printing. Tuition is available on request and at an additional cost.

Hartshay is a friendly, small community close to Ripley in the Amber Valley area. Walking Routeways 5 and 8 pass along the Cromford Canal nearby. Crich Tramway Museum, The Midland Railway Centre and Heage Windmill are some of our local attractions. The George Inn within a few hundred yards (01773 742597) serves food at the weekends. Other food outlets within walking distance are The Devonshire Arms (01773 688825) and The Excavator (01773 744400) which also has live bands and discos at weekends. Pentrich, the next village, is the centre of Pentrich Revolution fame (1817). The leaders were the last to be "hung, drawn and quartered in the U.K. and 14 men were sentenced to transportation...on the "Tottenham" and the " Isabella", eventually settling in Sydney, New South Wales. Here there is the Dog Inn (01773 513360) St. Matthew Church and the Village Hall, originally built as a school to replace their cottages.
