With its deep U-shaped bay and broad sandy beach, Port Erin provides excellent bathing and water sports. Fishermen and divers are both attracted by its clear water and rich marine life. The coastal footpath to picturesque Port St Mary and the path north to Fleshwick bay and beyond are outstanding with dramatic cliffs, sea stacks and breathtaking panoramas opening up at ever turn in the path. To further appreciate this lovely coastline and its wildlife a boat trips to the Calf of Man is a must. The Calf of Man is particularly interesting as it is an observation point for a wide variety of breeding and migrating birds, a home to the Chough, a flock of rare Manx four-horned Loughtan sheep and a large seal colony. Cregneish open air folk village just a slight detour from the coastal footpath gives you an ideal excuse for a cup of tea and maybe a piece of cake while you go back in time to the 19th century when fishing and crofting were the mainstays for communities like this. You can expect a very warm welcome at Carhonnag. We are situated about 5 minutes drive NW of Ramsey in a rural location. Sitting in around 3 acres of grounds we enjoy a peaceful location yet still within easy reach of all major attractions. Ample off-road parking. Views to Bride Hills to the North and North Barrule and Snaefell to the South we are well placed for walking holidays, golf holidays, bird watching and because we are out of town, you will be astounded by some of the darkest skies in the British Isles. All rooms have either en-suite bathrooms or private bathroom facilities and bathrobes. Bedrooms have TVs, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and either twin or double beds. You are very welcome to roam the gardens or find a quiet bench to read a book or just enjoy watching the wildlife. Where ever possible, we use home grown vegetables for the evening meals, thus swapping airmiles, for foot-metres and guaranteeing the freshest produce possible. Unfortunately, the house and garden are not suitable for children under the age of 8. Situated below North Barrule, on the Northern Plains, we enjoy the sunniest position on the Isle of Man. We are within easy reach of the Ayres Nature reserve with its wonderful views of South Western Scotland and the Lake District Fells; a must for walkers, naturalists, artists and anyone looking for fresh air and fabulous views. Conveniently placed for both Ramsey golf course and Glen Truan Links course. Should you like to be out for the whole day, we can arrange a packed lunch for you too. Breakfast is taken in a room overlooking the garden, and you can choose from a full English or perhaps scrambled eggs and smoked salmon or if you prefer, fresh fruit and cereal.
