Ben Tianavaig B&B, Portree, Isle of Skye

PPPN £30 - £35

Distance: Miles
Charlotte & Bill Johnson at Ben Tianavaig B&B offer a warm, friendly welcome to guests, comfortable, clean rooms and a great breakfast! We know these are the things that are important to us when we stay in a B&B. We also want our guests make the most of their visit to Skye and are happy to help you plan days out, suggesting places to see and things to do. This is an important part of our services as we want you to have a great holiday with us – the only thing we can’t do anything about is the weather! Our distinctive terracotta house in the conservation area of Portree has stunning views of one of the most photographed places on Skye – the Harbour. Beyond the harbour, we look out to the Red Cuillins, Ben Tianavaig, the Sound of Raasay, and Raasay Island. The house is about 100 years old and named after Ben Tianavaig hill on the other side of Loch Portree. The name is a mixture of Gaelic and Norse and means “harbour (vaig) at the foot of the hill (ben)” which we think this is a very apt name for our house. We have four comfortable bedrooms - two large double rooms upstairs (one is a family room) and two double/twin rooms downstairs (at street level). All rooms have harbour views and are en-suite; with TVs, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities and a good selection of books. There is a large dining room on the first floor with great views and our breakfasts have received really good reviews from our visitors! We have a selection of maps and books on the island which guests are welcome to borrow during their stay with us and there is a good selection of board games for rainy/winter nights. We have parking on the other side of the main road across from the house and there is plenty more parking nearby. Ben Tianavaig is in a great location for all the local amenities – literally a few minutes walk from the harbour, and the town centre. So, near to restaurants, pubs, shops, supermarkets, banks and post office, bus station and taxi rank, Tourist Office and library/swimming pool, churches, and car parks. Ben Tianavaig really is a great base for exploring the island. There is so much to see and do on Skye that we encourage visitors to take at least a couple of days to stay here to get the most out of your visit. We are open all year round offering winter specials for guests who want to have a winter break when the island is a bit quieter. Early booking for a summer visit is advisable as we are a popular choice and book up quickly. If you’d like to know more, visit our website or contact us. Rates : From £30 to £35 per person per night. Children are welcome. No smoking. Sorry, no pets. Disabled facilities - please enquire for exact details.
