Newnham Farm has won the Isle of Wight Conservation Award 3 times, in 1983, 1988 and the year 2000, showing our continued commitment to caring for our environment. Enthusiasm and attention to detail was rewarded by a 5 diamond grade with a gold award from the English Tourism Council, in 1999. There were only 2 such awards on the Island in that year. In 2001, Newnham Farm was awarded a 5 diamond grade by the AA. In 2002 Di Cleaver was a finalist in the AA Landlady of the Year award and in 2003 she was also the regional winner in Excellence in England, in the Bed and breakfast category, awarded by the Southern Tourism. In 2006 Newnham Farm was assesed by Quality in Tourism for Visit Britain and was awarded a five diamond grade with a Silver Award. The sunny, spacious bedrooms have been individually decorated and both rooms have their own ensuite facilities, with double sized shower cabinets. The rooms have colour television, hair dryer, coffee and tea making facilities with homemade shortbread and a fridge containing fresh milk, also very useful for that bottle of wine, fresh fruit or chocolate biscuits! Sleep soundly in comfortable, peaceful surroundings and wake refreshed to the sound of birdsong and the ducks quacking on the pond. Breakfast can be as speedy or as leisurely as you wish; by the log fire in the cosy beamed dining room, in Autumn and Winter or on the patio on warm summer mornings. I cook with fresh Island produce and I make all my own jams and marmalades. We have beehives on the farm so there is a plentiful supply of honey and homemade bread to spread it on. All breakfasts are cooked to order and so I can easily cater for different tastes and diets - vegetarian options available. If you have special dietry requirements, please inform me when booking. Guests are welcome to wander in the garden and to walk the footpaths north to Quarr Abbey for quiet reflection or south towards Havenstreet and Firestone Copse. We are on steps away from Sandown Bay's six miles of glorious sandy beaches, which is a haven for all and is safe for bathing at all times and Sandown Pier with it's amusements, kiddies rides, Jurassic golf and neon bowling, fun for all the family. The Montpelier is a small family run B&B offering clean affordable accommodation which is situated on the first and second floor of the property, giving it the advantage of overlooking Sandown Bay. We have seven / eight letting rooms, most with sea views, comprising of doubles, twins, a single and family rooms, one a very spacious and in two rooms, so the kids aren't under your feet. They are all en-suite. All rooms have a colour TV, alarm clock/radio, table and chairs, fridge, tea/coffee making and more than ample wardrobe and drawer space so there's no having to live out of a suitcase. Guests have their own keys so they can come and go as they please anytime of the day or night and there's no knocking on your door at the crack of dawn to clean your room we see to it when you want if you want and with quilts on the beds most guests like their privacy. For those that like to lay in while on holiday we offer breakfast directly opposite in Barnaby's Restaurant any time of the day from 7am till it closes. There is an iron, ironing board and hairdryer available on request. The Montpelier garden is small but fall of colour and probably one of the most photographed and complimented gardens on the Island.
