Bryn Barn is a charming barn and stable conversion, set in secluded cottage gardens within the picturesque village of Waltham on the Wolds which is on the edge of the beautiful Belvoir Vale and now part of the Welland Region. Glena and Andrew hope that you will come and stay in this area which is in the heart of rural middle England, yet close to ancient market towns and within easy reach of major cities. Glena and Andrew converted the barns and stables into a family home in 1977, taking care to retain it's character. Many existing features of the original building have been carefully restored and the timber beams, thick stone walls and local blue glazed pantiles have been faithfully retained. A fascinating original well has recently been discovered. Within walking distance are two village pubs providing a choice of good quality meals. Our 4 Bedrooms have all been beautifully appointed. Each room is individually, yet comfortably equipped + decorated comprising of: 1 Double Room - Bathroom en Suite. 1 Twin Room - Shower room en suite. 1 Suite - 1 double, (Ground Floor) and 1 single room - Shower Room en Suite. 1 Family Room (1 double + 1 single bed) - Shower Room en Suite. All 4 rooms boast : Comfortable beds. Colour television and radio. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities. Central heating. Hairdryers, toiletries and a book to read at bedtime. The guest lounge overlooks a beautiful patio garden and benefits from an open fire where you can relax when it is cold. The cottage garden that surrounds the guest accommodation is a haven for wild birds. A substantial breakfast is served in the dining area, using many local products and special diets can be catered for. Facilities : Garden - Guests are welcome to use the patio areas and garden. Disabled Access and Parking. Parking - Is off road, and is situated at the side of the house. Pets - May be accommodated subject to prior arrangement only. The De Montfort is one of Loughborough's oldest hotels. This Victorian building still retains many original features. We have ten traditionally decorated rooms some with original cast iron fire places, most of which are en suite or have private facilities. All rooms have colour TV and hospitality trays. Evening meals are available Monday to Thursday and weekends with prior arrangement at the nearby Peacock Inn which is also run by us. We are situated within five minutes of the town centre and Great Central Steam Trust which is one of the country's leading attractions. The university, and Taylors Ball Foundry are close by. Prestwold Hall and Beaumanor Hall are ten minutes away. A warm and friendly atmosphere guaranteed. The beautiful Leicestershire countryside offers a wide variety of walks through local attractions such as Charnwood Forest, Beacon Hill and Bradgate Park, the birthplace of Lady Jane Grey (the nine day queen) to name but a few. For motoring and racing enthusiasts a visit to Castle Donnington Race Track and Museum is highly recommended. Our hotel is named after the Frenchman Simon De Montfort, who came to England in 1229, favoured by Henry III he was made Earl of Leicester. In later years as King Henry strayed further from the Magna Carta, Simon and the King waged war upon each other. On the 4th August 1265 Simon De Montfort was killed in battle at Evesham in Worcestershire. Simon was loved by the common people of England and although dead, his cause triumphed and he is known as the father of English Parliament. Set in the grounds of Scalford Hall and once owned by Colonel Coleman of mustard fame, The Lodge housed the gardeners & chauffeurs for the Hall. Now a picturesque Edwardian house, set in the rolling countryside, it is a welcoming B & B with roaring log fires in the winter and delightful gardens to enjoy in summer, which gives it a typical country cottage feel. The Lodge boasts self-contained, tastefully decorated accommodation with private guest entrance and staircase.
