Church Farm Guest House is a charming, homely and spacious 16th century former farmhouse, carefully adapted to provide a high standard of accommodation whilst retaining the original character - oak beams and inglenook fireplaces. It stands in an acre of ground with a stream and well established lawns trees and shrubs. From Michel Troy there is easy access to the A40 and historic Monmouth, with its unique fortified Norman bridge, is only two miles away. Church Farm is an excellent base for exploring the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Usk Valley and Abergavenny and the Black Mountains are less than half an hours drive. The cities of Hereford, Gloucester and Cardiff are all easily reached. We are only 15 miles from the M48 at Chepstow and even closer to the Ross end of the M50. All rooms have private facilities (most are en suite), central heating and tea/ coffee making facilities. However, as a consideration to fellow guest we ask you to refrain from smoking inside the house. There is ample parking. We offer a good choice of breakfasts and can provide evening meals by arrangement. Where possible we use local or home grown produce and are happy to cater for vegetarians. Wysk Walks : Wysk Walks takes its name from two major Welsh rivers - the Wye and the Usk. Many local walks on the banks of the Wye or through the woods to some of the local beauty spots including Cleddon Shoots, an impressive waterfall after heavy rain. The area is well served with inns and restaurants with the village pub just two hundred yards away, serving real ales and home cooked food in its re-furbished restaurant, bar and prize-winning beer garden. By car it is within easy reach of the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean, Slimbridge, Cardiff, Bath, Bristol and Hay on Wye. Comfortable split level (upside down) centrally heated house, set in tranquil surroundings, on a hillside, half a mile from Monmouth town center. Casita Alta offers a friendly, peaceful atmosphere for that unique getaway. An excellent breakfast menu to choose from is available and included in the costs. All diets are catered for if we are given prior notice when booking. There is now some provision for walking disabled people. A stair lift if you have difficulty getting up and down stairs, a shower stool, bath seat and handles to get in and out of the bath are now installed. Sorry there is no provision for severely disabled, the house is not suitable for a wheelchair. We have solar heating panels on the roof for our hot water system, and try to recycle as much as possible. Children to OAPs, business and working people and walking disabled ALL welcome. Castle Acre nestles between the 12th century church and the 11th century castle of Grosmont, in the heart of this beautiful and unique village,set high above the Monnow valley, with views in every direction. Castle Acre is a most attractive house of great charm, originally a coach house and stables, which was imaginatively and sympathetically converted in the 1970s using original period materials.The house has been extended recently in the same vein to give a larger kitchen and an additional bedroom. There are now two double rooms with en suite bathrooms available, one overlooking the church and the other overlooking the castle. The garden provides total seclusion from the village. The shop/post office is across the road and the pub is at the other end of the street. Sue Gill is a garden designer and is planning to start on the garden soon, although the existing garden will keep us happy in the meantime. You may have visited her amazing garden at Great Campston which she made from scratch over 19 years, visited by thousands of people during that time. Castle Acre garden is a new challenge " a Garden in the Making" watch this space! The local countryside offers fantastic views and some of the best walking country in the UK.
