All diets are catered for if we are given prior notice when booking. There is now some provision for walking disabled people. A stair lift if you have difficulty getting up and down stairs, a shower stool, bath seat and handles to get in and out of the bath are now installed. Sorry there is no provision for severely disabled, the house is not suitable for a wheelchair. We have solar heating panels on the roof for our hot water system, and try to recycle as much as possible. Children to OAPs, business and working people and walking disabled ALL welcome. We are a family run farm: Mother and daughter, Carol and Anna, run the bed and breakfast and father and son, Cyril and Dave, run the dairy farm; complete with self-milking cows! Upon prior arrangement we can also provide tours of the farm and show you how the cows use the self-milking equipment, it's fascinating! We serve a choice of cereals, with fresh, farm-produced milk and provide orange juice on each table. In the Winter months we have porridge and in the Spring and Summer we have grapefruit, there is also a basket of fruit with natural yoghurt. For our cooked breakfasts we serve locally produced eggs and bacon, provided by a family member, which is highly recommend by our guests! Accompanied by tomatoes, mushrooms, Hash browns, sausages and toast (white or wholemeal). Served with a choice of Welsh tea or freshly ground coffee. Castle Acre nestles between the 12th century church and the 11th century castle of Grosmont, in the heart of this beautiful and unique village,set high above the Monnow valley, with views in every direction. Castle Acre is a most attractive house of great charm, originally a coach house and stables, which was imaginatively and sympathetically converted in the 1970s using original period materials.The house has been extended recently in the same vein to give a larger kitchen and an additional bedroom. There are now two double rooms with en suite bathrooms available, one overlooking the church and the other overlooking the castle. The garden provides total seclusion from the village. The shop/post office is across the road and the pub is at the other end of the street. Sue Gill is a garden designer and is planning to start on the garden soon, although the existing garden will keep us happy in the meantime. You may have visited her amazing garden at Great Campston which she made from scratch over 19 years, visited by thousands of people during that time. Castle Acre garden is a new challenge " a Garden in the Making" watch this space! The local countryside offers fantastic views and some of the best walking country in the UK. Including Offa's Dyke path, the Black mountains and the Brecon Beacons. There are two other castles close by, Skenfrith Castle and White Castle which together form the Three Castles Walk. The whole area is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Grosmont is almost equidistant between Abergavenny and Hereford,both have places of interest to visit.
