Kingston - on - Spey was founded in 1784 and named after Kingston - upon - Hull in Yorkshire. Dodsworth & Osborne, shipbuilders from Hull established shipyards at Kingston capable of building boats up to 500 tons with masts 60 ft high. In the early 1800's, Clipper ships were built here to service the tea trade from India. At nearby Spey Bay, The Tugnet Ice House, built in 1830, remains on view as a monument to the Salmon Fishing Station industry. The Moray Wildlife Centre - part of the Dolphin & Whale Conservation Society is also situated in Spey Bay. Further inland is the World Famous Whisky Trail with many distilleries located in Moray. The Croft B & B is a charming Victorian town house set in formal gardens of nearly one acre. It was built in 1848 for local Town Clerk and solicitor Patrick Duff. The house is centrally and peacefully located, only a short walk from Elgin's town centre and historic cathedral. Elgin is on the main route between Inverness (39 miles) and Aberdeen (65 miles). We have 3 guest bedrooms: 1 ensuite kingsize double 1 ensuite kingsize twin/family 1 single with private bathroom.
