The Cross Scythes, Sheffield, South Yorkshire

The Cross Scythes is a family run inn located where the Derbyshire peak district meets the city of Sheffield. Established as a coaching inn by a local blacksmith, “The Cross” has been a welcome stop-off for travellers since around 1820.

Our aim at The Cross Scythes is to provide a warm and friendly welcome whether you are choosing to stay B&B in one of our superbly furnished bedrooms, dine in our restaurant or just calling in for a drink or a snack.

We have a fine selection of real ales that usually includes Timothy Taylors Landlord, Black Sheep and Marstons Pedigree. The bar is open daily from 11.00am till Midnight. We also have a large beer garden with seating for approx 60 people and a large car park.

Our location is ideal and within 15 - 20 minutes you can be in the centre of Sheffield or enjoying the Peak District tourist attractions of Chatsworth House, Bakewell, and the Hope Valley. There are also many lovely walks across the moors and woods from our doorstep towards Hathersage, Holmesfield or Baslow, please ask for details of routes.

All of our bedrooms are brand new for 2006, are non-smoking and have en-suite shower rooms. Three of our rooms have patio doors opening onto a private balcony where you will find patio furniture outside. Each room is furnished and equipped to the highest standard with TV, tea/coffee making facilities & a hairdryer. An ironing board is available upon request.

Of course, staying at The Cross Scythes wouldn't be complete without experiencing our full Yorkshire breakfast made using the best local produce.

Access to the rooms is from an internal staircase within the main building to the first floor.

Payment can be made by cheque, Visa, Mastercard and all major debit cards. Prices are inclusive of VAT.

Breakfast is normally served between 8.00 and 9.00 each morning. If you require an earlier breakfast or check out time please ask. A newspaper can be ordered the previous evening.

Guests are asked to check out by 10.00 on the morning of departure. Check in is from 15.00 on the day of arrival.
