The room is a large self contained room with en-suite facilities, TV, radio, tea/coffee and complementary fruit and biscuits.
The room overlooks the Calder valley and across to Heptonstall. The room also over looks the garden and a lovely beech wood at the rear of the premises. The location is quiet and relaxing There is easy street parking and a pleasant walk down to the town centre. Hardcastle Craggs ( National Trust ) is near and there are plenty of footpath walks that start from the house or near by.
The town is a historic town located in the picturesque Upper Calder valley in the south Pennines half way between Leeds and Manchester. It is a relatively undiscovered holiday destination with a superb choice of walks from a combination of secluded wooded valleys where kingfishers and deer can be seen, to wild Pennine moorland. The town is almost on the famous Pennine way long distance footpath.
The town has a flourishing artistic community and has a successful arts festival in June.
We are located near the A6033 just out side the town centre.
Many places of interest can easily be visited from the house e.g. Haworth (15minutes), Holmfirth (last of the summer wine)(25 minutes), Leeds (45 minutes), Manchester (45minutes), York (1 hour), Yorkshire Dales (1 hour)
I cook vegetarian, cater for vegans and any other dietary requirement on request. I use organic produce when ever I can. I grow rhubarb, raspberries, gooseberries, black & red currants and damsons, all are served freshly cooked with yoghurt. I get supplies of organic cooking apples, plums and pears. What doesn’t get eaten gets made into jam or bottled and used throughout the year. I bake my own bread using organic products and try to use local eggs and milk when available.
