The Silverdale Hotel, Silverdale, Carnforth, Lancashire

Built in 1836, the Silverdale Hotel is a listed building with a friendly atmosphere fully in keeping with the area, and has been run by the Carney family since 1987. A free house, it is a source of good food and drink and a comfortable resting place, with a warm welcome and excellent service. It is a crowd free base for exploring the Lake District. Children are welcome, and well behaved pets permitted in bedrooms. All rooms are en-suite with television, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers and ironing stations.

On entering the Hotel through the wood panelled reception area, you will find yourself in the main lounge bar, well stocked, serving a good selection of beers, wines and spirits, with an excellent varied bar meals menu served daily throughout the year. Besides the main wood panelled lounge (no-smoking area), there are other corners to relax, with cosy fires in winter and comfortable arm chairs. The conservatory is an extension of the lounge and provides a pleasant light and airy dining area overlooking the beer garden. Beyond the conservatory is the Britannia Room, a comfortable, quiet no smoking dining area.

Silverdale : Lancashire village tucked away on the north east edge of Morecambe Bay. It has a rather special climate which has produced a countryside and foreshore rich in many kinds of vegetation from wild flowers to forests. These in their turn support many birds, butterflies and animals, beauties which can be readily be seen by walkers from numerous paths crisscrossing the area. Together with the neighbouring village of Arnside, the district is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The R.S.PB reserve at Leighton Moss is within two miles and there is an excellent golf course nearby.
