Historical Ling House is nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the village of Threshfield. Just a 20 minute walk from the village of Grassington and close by to the Dales Way and the Cycle Way. Over four centuries ago a Scottish moss-trooper (Jamie Ibbotson) settled and built Ling House and his descendants have lived in it ever since. The family made Threshfield famous for making besoms and horse dealing. Making the besoms from ling gathered from the moor and then delivering them all around the dales using their horses and carts. You can view all the tools they used for making the besoms at Skipton museum and you can still see today several of their favourite horse shoes displayed on the barn door. The village has its own Pub serving great food, local ales and wine and a Tea Room. Perfectly located being only a 20 minute walk from the bustling village of Grassington and having the old market town of Skipton with its beautiful castle just 8 miles away. From Ling House there’s plenty to do, you can enjoy beautiful walks or hire a bicycle in Grassington, explore the local historical villages, visit local markets, festivals and exhibitions, fishing at the local trout farm (Kilnsey Park) or buy a day pass and fish on the river wharfe. Our bed and breakfast facilities will ensure your stay in York is relaxed and enjoyable. Adams House has eight bedrooms in a variety of combinations to offer a comfortable rest for our guests after a busy day either sight seeing or on business. Our rooms are individually decorated and furnished to a high standard while double glazing will ensure that traffic noise is kept to a minimum to enable guests to have an uninterrupted sleep, thus refreshing them for the following day. All of the rooms, apart from the single, are fully ensuite with shower and or bath. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each room. A colour TV with DVD player is also available in most rooms with a selection of DVDs for viewing free of charge. Breakfast is served in our spacious comfortable dining room. Each breakfast is cooked to individual order from our comprehensive menu. Specific dietary requirements can be catered for if guests make us aware in time. Gluten free is generally available without notice. Evening meals can be provided if sufficient notice is given. However, we are unable to compete with price and variety offered by local eating places. We have no objection to take away meals or home delivery, but ask that they are taken in the dining room rather than bedrooms. There are also evening cruises which pass through historic York and the surrounding countryside up and down river. On The Knavesmire is York Racecourse which hosted Royal Ascot in 2005.
