From your arrival to departure we try very hard to make sure you enjoy your stay with us in every respect. We hope when you leave you will want to come back again. Practically speaking this means we have to achieve standards set by organisations like The Scottish Tourist Board and others. We have been graded at 4 Star since opening in 1997; Welcome Host & Scotland's Best Qualified since 1998. In 2001 we achieved "Investor in People" standard. Two independent guides have judged us to be the best in Scotland and we have had recognition for the quality of our food and wine. We have three guest bedrooms. Two have a single bed and a double bed in each (they can be used as double or twin or family rooms) and one with a double bed (used as a single or a double room). They do not have ensuite facilities but are tastefully decorated and furnished using many fine antiques and ornaments. The rooms are comprehensively equipped with wash-hand basin, mirror, shaver socket, towels, luxury bathrobes, toiletries and colour TV. We also provide a hospitality tray that includes a wide range of herbal, fruit and traditional teas, a choice of coffees and drinking chocolate. There is a mini-fridge in each room and we supply fresh milk. There are two large bathrooms for the use of our guests The quality of our accommodation has been judged as 4 Star by the Scottish Tourist Board, ever since we opened in 1997. We were a Johansens Recommended Country House from 1999 until we left that organisation at the end of 2003. Also in 2003 we were selected as the Best B&B in Scotland (2nd best in the whole of the UK!) by the independent and highly respected Good Hotel Guide. Imagine our amazement then at being selected Best B&B in Scotland for 2004 by Les Routiers. We have a sitting and dining room which is really cosy when the fire is on. Breakfast is when you like it, within reason, and dinner is served at 19.30. It's a four course Table d'Hote menu using mainly local produce. Lamb, beef, pork and wild boar come from the farms around us, as do a wide variety of soft fruits and herbs. Game, birds and 4-legged, are from local estates. most of the vegetables are home grown in the garden down by the river. Scottish cheeses may not be as well known as French ones, but they are every bit as good. We make a great deal of our own bread, oatcakes and preserves but also have superb local options. We try to know the provenance of everything we serve and the more local it is the better. We can manage fine if you have particular dietary needs as long as we know in advance. In 2001 we won the Johansens "Wine List of the Year" award for our wine list. We have over 100 different wines from around the world, including a selection of dessert wines. From 2000 to its demise in 2003 we were recommended by The Taste of Scotland and then awarded 3 Medallions by the Scottish Tourist Board for Home Cooking. We are included in The Best Tastes of Scotland guide for 2005 and now approved by the new Eat Scotland initiative. Rates : From £38 per person per night. Children are welcome. No smoking. Pets are allowed. 4 Stars STB. Dinner is available.
