Greenan Lodge, Doonfoot, Ayrshire

Situated on the beautiful west coast of Scotland, in the heart of Burns Country, Greenan Lodge offers guests excellent modern facilities and warm hospitality recognised both locally and internationally. Our family-run guest house is situated in a quiet location 5 minutes south of Ayr town centre, nestling at the foot of the Carrick Hills adjacent to Greenan Castle, and a short walk from Greenan Shore.

You get the best of both worlds here, a quiet locale that is ideal for relaxing after a long trip, yet within five minutes drive you can reach notable restaurants, local golf courses, Burns Cottage, Brig O'Doon, coastal walks and town centre shopping. The famous Culzean Castle Country Park is a 15 minute drive south, why not stop at Electric Brae or the fantastic beach at Croy on the way there!

If you fancy a crack at our world-famous championship golf courses, you could not be better located as the lodge is less than twenty minutes from Turnberry, Royal Troon and old Prestwick. If you don't feel up to this but are still looking for a challenge, then a round at James Braid designed Belleisle, just down the road, would be a fine option.

Take in the scenery by day and sample the great food at night in the many quality restaurants that surround us. Then come back for a perfect night.

Greenan Lodge is appointed to a high standard with each inviting bedroom having a character of its own, all tastefully designed to reflect the lodges modern image. All bedrooms have luxurious en-suite bathrooms, hostess trays and LCD televisions.

Enjoy your start to the day with a delicious Scottish breakfast in our conservatory-style dining room then spend the rest of your day discovering this lovely part of Scotland.

When you get back you know there is ample, safe, parking in our spacious driveway.

You can then enjoy the comfort of our large, airy Guest Lounge...for your use only, and ideal for relaxing after a tiring day.

Put your feet up and watch TV for a while.

At Greenan Lodge we believe the adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and our conservatory-style dining room is certainly the place to complement it.

Help yourself to some cereal, fruit juices, while we cook you the best of local Scottish produce.

Relax with a bottomless cup of coffee in the genteel surroundings while you ponder your plan for the day, and just ask for some 'local knowledge' if required.

If it's a game of golf you fancy, we can help arrange it for you.

Born in Alloway, just south of Ayr, Burns was the son of a tenant farmer. A passionate, inspiring, forward thinking pioneer of his generation, Robert Burns is regarded as the national poet of Scotland. Born in Ayrshire, in 1759, Scotland's best loved Bard is famous for his political views, his love for the lassies and of course his world famous songs and poems including Auld Lang Syne.

Burns' Cottage - now a museum - is where he was born and enjoyed a happy young childhood. The traditional 'But and Ben' thatched clay cottage has been carefully renovated with a documentary film to show visitors what life must have been like for the family. Robert Burns' birthplace is within walking distance, as is the Brig O' Doon immortalised in Tam O' Shanter, with its superb restaurant.

The Burns Heritage Centre sits adjacent to the Brig offering a historical vision of the Bard and a great wee tearoom!
