Inverness, capital of the Highlands, sits in the heart of the north of Scotland. It is both a fast-growing centre for business and social development and an historic site steeped in fascinating history.

Inverness has plenty to offer with its bustling atmosphere and picturesque highland location, having existed as a city for over 7000 years.

Despite the rapid growth of Inverness and it being awarded City status by the queen in 2000, it has retained its character as a traditional market town with many historical sites of interest. Inverness Castle is a magnificent site of historical splendour which sits on the banks of the river, and the Old High Church - also by the riverside - is the oldest building in Inverness, with a 16th Century church tower.

Of course one of the most famous features of the Inverness-Shire area is Loch Ness, home of Nessie - The Loch Ness Monster. There are daily boat trips from the river within the city out to the loch, coach trips and car hire options. A visit to this landmark attraction is absolutely recommended to all visitors to the city and surrounding areas.
