Balciuin, Nethy Bridge, Nr Aviemore, Inverness-shire

Situated in the heart of beautiful Strathspey in the Highlands of Scotland between Aviemore and Grantown, Nethy Bridge is the perfect centre to enjoy the glorious Highland countryside.

The village of Nethy Bridge has been a holiday destination since Victorian times, yet it remains unspoilt, with the majority of accommodation hidden away in quiet locations next to the ancient Caledonian pine forest.

With the dramatic backdrop of the often snowcapped Cairngorm mountains and hundreds of acres of Abernethy Forest (RSPB owned) Nethy Bridge spans the lower reaches of the River Nethy a mile before it reaches the River Spey, one of Scotland's foremost salmon rivers.

Balciuin is a recently built but traditional style house on the edge of the village close to the River Nethy. You can be assured of a warm welcome, good food, and exceptionally comfortable accommodation.

The house offers spectacular views over the Abernethy Forest with it’s Scots Pines and capercaillie and the Cairngorm Mountains including Meall a Bhuachaille, Cairngorm itself, Bynackbeg and Bynackmor.
Accommodation (Balciuin is a no smoking establishment) is on the first floor and comprises two units :

A twin room with double bed settee and large en-suite

A family suite comprising two adjoining rooms:- a large double with king size bed leading into another room with twin beds and single bed settee. The spacious en- suite is off the double room.

Both units have a remote control television with DVD player, radio alarm, hospitality tray, hairdryer, room heaters, and shaving points in the shower rooms. A travel cot is available on request.

Breakfast is a veritable feast : Fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cereals, and a selection of bread and jams (some home-made) are provided for you to dip into. Cooked breakfasts are individually tailored using many fresh local products such as free range eggs from the farm up the road and sausages made by our excellent village butcher.

Dinner is available at all three hotels in the village. They offer good food from excellent bar meals to fine dining. The nearest hotel, the Heatherbrae is a five minute walk away.

Massage : After an energetic day, ease sore muscles and relax body and mind with a Hydrotherm or Ayurvedic massage right here at Balciuin (special rates from £21 per hour)
