Both the Royal Winchester and the South Winchester golf courses are within 3 mins drive, and Farley Mount country park with it's many colour coded walks is only 1 1/2 miles distant. The New Forest with it's wild ponies, lovely scenery, country pubs is only half an hour away.

Within one hour is Portsmouth with it's maritime museums, Southampton with it's shopping, the Isle of Wight and even the university city of Oxford.

Winchester, being the former capital of England, has many historical sites, not forgetting the famous cathedral, and also provides an excellent base for touring the south.
