The Wight Montrene Hotel, Sandown, Isle of Wight

Already one of the most popular hotels on the Island, the award winning Wight is now under new and enthusiastic management. Whilst retaining all those points that make so many guests return year after year there is now the intent and ability to introduce the innovations that will secure the hotel’s future - as the place to holiday or take a short break!
We do not have sea views. Instead we are set in secluded grounds of 2.5 acres - thus avoiding night-time noise from the High Street and Esplanade. Yet the Wight is just 2 minutes very gentle stroll from the sea, possibly another minute to the shops. And those grounds have been put to good use to give guests so much in the way of amenities – in good or bad weather! Obviously the mandatory free car park – plus a decent sized indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, solarium, games room, trimnasium, dedicated snooker room and sun terrace.
Add in a large and pleasant bar with a dance floor and regular entertainment. Enhance with what is probably the best breakfast menu you will ever be offered. Then season with the fact that the owners have the confidence in their catering standards to eat every night on a restaurant table which every guest must pass! Quite simply, you have found the right hotel – it’s called the Wight!
We have 41 comfortably furnished and well appointed rooms, varying in style and size from single right through to family suites - some of which are suitable for up to 6. Additionally we also have some superior rooms and even "Four Poster" and Honeymoon suites. But whatever your requirement or choice every room has it's own ensuite facilities, colour TV, radio, wifi internet access for your laptop, hospitality tray, hairdryer and a digital safe. Cleanliness and attention to detail are under the watchful eye of our Housekeeper, Looge McDonald, who trained at the Park Lane Hotel, London and who has been with us for 17 years.
Our bar is open all day and is for the exclusive use of hotel clients and those taking meals in our restaurant, thus avoiding the overcrowding and at times rowdy behavior that often occurs in bars which are open to the general public. Alec Merrick, our very popular Bar Manager for the past 3 years, ensures that it is stocked to suit most tastes and features an adequate selection of luxury brand whiskies, cognacs, armagnacs etc..
Our Restaurant Manageress Wendy Fowler, who has been with the hotel for 5 years, will welcome you to our spacious restaurant which has comfortable seating for 110 diners. It opens for Breakfast at 8.15am (last orders by 9.45am) and for Evening Dinner at 6.30pm (last orders by 8.00pm).
