Wickham Lodge,The Quay, Aylesford, Kent

Beautifully restored house offering every modern comfort situated on the riverbank in Aylesford, one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Kent.

It is Cherith and Richard's aim to provide a high standard of service, comfort and cleanliness tailored to individual needs. Each guest bedroom has a choice of cafetiere or instant coffee and Indian or herbal teas. Fresh chilled water and complimentary soft drinks are also provided. There is a guest Drawing Room.

Breakfast is served in the Dining Room. It is the speciality of the house to offer guests a buffet table with a selection of cereals, yoghurt and compotes of fruit (from the garden, where possible); there are also homemade jams and bread. An English breakfast is also available. The Dining Room was originally a Georgian Kitchen and it has a comfortable `farmhouse' feel to it. In the summer months, guests may carry their breakfast trays to their favourite spot in the garden.

Whilst evening meals are not available, Cherith and Richard will always provide a plate of sandwiches and fresh fruit for guests requiring this service.

The Rooms:

The River Room - The Georgian double/twin room with ensuite shower room on the first floor, overlooks the river Medway at the front of the house. It makes a lovely family room and has a galley cupboard with fridge.

The Garden Room - The Tudor double room overlooks the knot garden at the back of the house. The beamed private bathroom has recently been restored to create a Bathroom/Dressing Room. There is a splendid Rainbath, a modern copy of a Victorian design.

The Terrace Room - The single room with ensuite shower room, on the ground floor looking out onto the Knot Garden.

Aylesford is a traditional village with post office and local shop. There are restaurants and public houses, offering a selection of food. The Chequers Inn, close to Wickham Lodge, is of Tudor origin, and has a relaxed atmosphere where families and children are welcome.

Wickham Lodge has ample off-street parking, and, as it is tucked away in a quiet spot in the village, everything is within walking distance.
