The site extends to 2 acres of gardens and grassland, overlooking the gentle hills and woods of Kentish countryside. Directly opposite is Hempsted Forest, managed by the Forestry Commission, 1,000 acres where can wander at will and find some quiet spots.

There are also many footpaths to explore, and a magical piece of ancient woodland with a stream running through it.
