Borthalan Hotel, Carbis Bay, St Ives, Cornwall

The Borthalan Hotel is a small friendly privately owned hotel personally managed by the proprietors Robert and Debbie Talbot. The Borthalan Hotel is a house with a great deal of character, set within our own grounds and built in the early 20th century. Ideally situated in a secluded quiet road, with private parking and a beautiful garden to enjoy, overlooking the golden sands of Carbis Bay beach and St Ives Bay. All of our well appointed and comfortable rooms have en-suite facilities, colour TV and most rooms have a wonderful views of the sea and the West Cornish coast line. You can collect your private room key from 3.00 pm and all of our rooms are fully centrally heated for when the weather is less than clement. We also have a guest lounge for your personal use and a small licensed bar. A traditional full English breakfast is also served in our sunny dining room, and a wide choice of food and drinks are also available.

The local beaches at St Ives and Hayle are world renowned for their beauty and splendour. Cornwall is famous for its surf and is ranked amongst the best venues any where for the quality and size of the surf, all year round. So use the Borthalan Hotel as a base and explore the breaks up and down the coast. Because of the rugged nature of the coastline and the ferocity of the occasional mid-winter storm, the Cornish coast has claimed many ships over the centuries. Although unfortunate for the poor soles on board, this makes for excellent diving and fishing in the area. So if your looking for a diving break on the Cornish coast or a fishing holiday in Cornwall please give us a call.

Above the crashing surf and golden sandy beaches are the also famous coastal walks. 300 miles of footpaths maintained by the national trust with some must see amazing views, not only of the coast but inland as well. So if rambling or hiking is something you do or would like to do then there are plenty of options, from putting on your hiking boots and setting off on your own to guided tours of local beauty spots.

There are several businesses in the local area that can drive you to the beauty spot of your choice, give you the low down on the local history and gossip (this is Cornwall!) and bring you back safe and sound to the Borthalan. Of course if your feeling a little more energetic then our country lanes and cycle paths are the safe way to get around on your bikes. And if this all sounds far too much, you can relax and enjoy a beautiful seaside holiday with a little local shopping, visit our local restaurants and take in some of our best local attractions, all at your own pace.
