Enormous care has been taken to completely refurbish the house yet retain the elegance and charm of the Victorian era and combine it with every modern comfort and convenience. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal with 3 elegant and spacious ensuite guest rooms, each with it's own character and beautiful furnishings. The Pig Sty : With windows facing south and east, this uniquely stencilled room is flooded by early morning sunshine, and has a large ensuite shower, loo and washbasin. The adjoining dressing room can also be used to make a family suite. Kingsize bed, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits provided. The house is set amongst lovely gardens in the middle of a 600 acre working farm with thriving wildlife and lovely walks. The farm has a range of arable crops and a free-range outdoor pig breeding herd. The house has a light, airy and spacious feel whilst retaining its Victorian period charm. All the rooms have the extensive facilities guests would expect as well as many other touches. Ship Stores Guest House is a 17th Century timber framed listed building that was originally three cottages. Later an external staircase led to drinking rooms, above which were used by local sheep farmers. It is believed the name "ship" is a corruption of "sheep". It has also been a village store for at least the last century. In the early 1970's the accommodation was converted to provide Bed and Breakfast rooms. In 1995 the former outbuildings were converted to form an annexe. There are seven rooms, all en-suite, available as doubles, twins or singles and family rooms. All rooms are equipped with TV, Tea/coffee making complimentary fresh milk, Mini-bar, hairdryer and iron and ironing board available on request two large annexe rooms with super king-size beds & newly refurbished bathrooms. Wireless internet access is also available. Ship Stores is located in the Suffolk village of Clare. The County of Suffolk abounds in historical and beautiful towns and villages. Of the smaller towns Clare has a deeply fascinating history and the kind of timeless beauty which can only evolve over many centuries. No other Suffolk town can offer the special combination of interest to be found here. The Country Park, a haven of conservation and preservation as well as a place of recreation, a 13th century Priory and a great Gothic Wool Church. A 16th century hostelry and a number of pubs, some of great antiquity, all serving excellent food. Hotel accommodation and the traditional bed and breakfast are available in the town. There are a selection of antique shops and art galleries to visit, as well as a comprehensive range of excellently stocked shops. Whether for business or pleasure the White Horse is ideally positioned, just off the A1120 tourist route, 10 minutes from the A12. Southwold, Minsmere and Snape Maltings are all 20 minutes away, with many other places of interest nearby. Ipswich town centre is a thirty five minutes drive, whilst Norwich is just forty five minutes away. A converted outbuilding adjacent to the Inn is home to seven comfortable bedrooms. Quietly situated with ample close parking, many of the rooms have views of the gardens and the open countryside beyond. Single, double and twin rooms as well as two family suites all with en-suite facilities are available. All our rooms have been recently refurbished to a very high standard with a view to obtaining a high tourist board rating.
