We only have 3 rooms to let, so we have plenty of time to concentrate on the little things that make your stay with us just that little bit more comfortable. Our comfortable dining room looks out over the village and has wonderful views of the harbour and the mountains. The little fishing village of Lochinver, lies in the south western corner of Sutherland. Set amidst some of the finest scenery in the West Highlands of Scotland, it is a paradise for anglers, climbers, walkers, bird watchers, and photographers, or for anyone who loves the great outdoors, or likes living close to nature, it is a splendid place to stay for a while, and savour all that it has to offer. For the not so energetic it is just a great place to relax, admire the scenery and enjoy a holiday, doing as you please, with no schedule to keep, or deadlines to adhere to... Polcraig Guest House, nestles on the hillside, centrally in Lochinver village, overlooking the bay. Local, family run, with 6 very comfortable en-suite bedrooms, 3 twins and 3 doubles, you are assured of a good nights sleep here. Each room is equipped with a tea/coffee welcome tray, colour TV, and hair dryer, and all en-suite areas have excellent showers (no baths), electric shaving points, vanity mirrors, wash basins, and toilets. All of the usual toiletries are provided for guests use. In our Dining Room, which is laid out in tables for two, enjoy our hearty breakfasts. We endeavour to provide you with superb food, using wherever possible, the finest of local produce. Generous helpings of fresh salmon, smoked haddock, sausage, bacon, eggs and black pudding, will set you up each day that you are with us. It is our aim to provide our guests with the very best of cuisine, and our multi choice breakfast menu, should satisfy the most discerning of palates. Outside, there is a private car park for the exclusive use of our guests. Please note that, as our house is built on a hillside, there are lots of steps, both inside and outside the premises. We apologise, but it is therefore difficult for anybody with a severe walking disability. Everyone is welcome at Polcraig. We have an excellent drying area for wet clothing and footwear, in our heated basement; and for fishermen, deep freeze facilities for your catch. Wild Brown Trout fishing can be arranged for anglers, on any one of all of, over 300 hill lochs in our locality, and about 30 boats are available for hire. Some loch fishing for Salmon and Sea trout can also be organized for guests. Fishing Permits, at very affordable prices, are available from ourselves and other outlets in the area. Your host, Cathel MacLeod, is a past President of The Scottish Police Angling Association; (the largest Angling Association in Scotland); and is the present Treasurer of the Assynt Angling Club. He has had a lifetime experience of freshwater Game Fishing throughout the UK, as well as a lifetime experience of Deerstalking, Hill-walking and Mountain Rescue, over most of the Highlands.
