Tigh Lios is a large 10 bedroom traditional Highland home right on the Main Street in the middle of Lochinver. Bedrooms 1 is a lovely en-suite family room with a double bed and single bed in it. It can accommodate another bed also. Views to the sea. Bedroom 2 is a large family room with a double bed and two single beds in it. It has its own private sinks with shaving points, with the bathroom and shower located right beside the bedroom. Decorated to a very high standard with amazing views to the Minch. Bedrooms 3 and 4 are twin bedrooms on floor 2 with an additional lounge area in the hallway. Both bedrooms are immaculate with all new furniture and carpets. Windows open to the Minch at the front of the house and wonderful views. Both bedrooms have their own wash hand basins. Bedroom 5 in an en-suite ground floor twin bedroom so ideal for anyone with difficulties with stairs. Views to the sea and with satellite TV and i-pod dock. Bedroom 6 is a double room with wash hand basin. This room is located on the first floor. The bathroom is shared and along the corridor. Satellite TV and i-pod dock. The Bank House was built in 1893 for John Lesley, who was the County Clerk of Sutherland, for himself and family. He was also the first captain of Royal Dornoch Golf Club in 1899. He incorporated a bank and an office for himself in the area now occupied by the current owners, Paul and Irene Hart. Private parking for three cars is available in the garden grounds, which include a patio area with fish pond. Residents may use the garden table and chairs here to enjoy the surroundings. Free wireless internet access is available in the rooms and throughout the building. Breakfast is served in our dining room and good food is also available at many nearby hotels, restaurants and cafés. Four of the five rooms at the Bank House have very high ceilings with fine cornices. The windows are large, making all the rooms very bright. Centrally heated, all have remote control colour TV with one satellite sports channel. We include a complimentary tea/coffee tray, soap, bath/shower gel and shampoo. Each room has a hair drier. Just a short drive North-West up the winding single-track road will take you to Loch Eribol, Durness and ultimately if you want to take the extra hop on the ferry, Britain's North Westerly tip, known as Cape Wrath. Driving North towards Tongue you will find Ben Hope and the beautiful Ben Loyal, a must for avid climbers or casual walkers alike, depending on which route you take! One interesting feature of Altnaharra is it has a weather centre which reports to the UK Met Office. Loch Fleet is a bird reserve where you can watch the seals basking on the sand or swimming in the sea and you might see some rare seabirds too. Skelbo Wood is run by the Forestry Commission and is a sculpture nature trail; watch out for the fantastic wood carvings of various animals that have been done along the walk. To the east the sea can be clearly heard as waves break along the shoreline and the Tarbet Ness lighthouse stands proud in the distance. On a clear day the Cairngorms provide a majestic backdrop to this view. Golfers can be seen playing on the Royal Dornoch Golf Course with hole 5 clearly visible.
