The Magpie's Nest is a beautiful old house set in a terraced row of bed and breakfasts (B&B) and guesthouses in South Shields, South Tyneside, and is owned by Steve and Jan Phillips, who have just recently bought the property. They instantly fell in love with the character of this charming old house but did not want it to be yet just another guesthouse with frilled duvets, floral curtains, clashing carpets and bad taste floral arrangements. The accommodation is modern with simple bare walls, tasteful prints, pristine bed linens and superior fittings in all the en-suite rooms. Steve and Jan are old hands at the hospitality trade, being publicans in the town, and greet all guests with their own special blend of charm and easy going efficiency putting everybody at ease immediately. The rooms all have a standard look. Creams and reds, which give this B&B a homely but spacious feel. Private en-suite facilities with power showers, Sky/TV/Video including Sky Premiership and Sky Movie Channels. Hairdryers and irons are available and all the rooms have tea-making facilities. Blackout blinds are fitted so that weekenders can enjoy a precious lie-in or poor nightshift workers can catch some much-needed shut-eye during the week. Super king-size beds are standard throughout. It's Steve and Jan's aim to spoil whoever is patronising the B&B and they do this with ease by offering good quality accommodation with good auld Geordie hospitality. Whether you ore a contractor working in the South Tyneside area or a tourist passing through Steve and Jan will endeavor to make your stay an enjoyable one. Rates : From £26 per person per night.
