We offer a traditional home cooked menu using high quality locally sourced produce which is served in either the non-smoking restaurant or the traditional bar.

The Black Lion Hotel is noted for its selection of beers, wines and spirits, including lovingly maintained real ales, and an excellent selection of malt whiskeys, which can be enjoyed in the bar with its ancient beamed ceiling and open log fire.

We pride ourselves on having no piped music, television, jukeboxes, gaming machines or other distractions. As the home of the Pontrhydfendigaid Celtic Music Society we encourage live, acoustic traditional music at weekends and whenever anyone wishes to strike up a tune! Croeso! Y Llew Du!

The Black Lion Hotel has an original coach house and stables annexe within the court Yard, converted to guest bedrooms some years ago. These have been completely refurbished, including the installation of double glazed windows for warmth and sound insulation.

Each cosy and comfortably furnished bedroom has a bathroom en-suite, a colour TV and a tea / coffee making facility. Except for the family room, which has a double bed and a pair of bunks, each bedroom has a double bed or twin single beds. The en-suite bathroom includes a bath or a shower cubicle; the family room has a bath with shower over. Please indicate when booking a room if you have a bed / bath preference. TV and tea / coffee making facilities are located in all rooms.

The cottage style ground floor bedrooms of the stables annexe and toilet of the Black Lion bar are wheelchair accessible, although not the en-suite bathrooms.

Cyclists and walkers have secure storage of their property and a secure heated drying room for clothing.
