Plas Derwen Country House, Corwen, Denbighshire

Plas Derwen is the most charasmatic cand historical country house in the area. An eighteenth century former rectory to the chrurch in Corwen, half a mile away. Plas Derwen (which translates as Oak Hall in Welsh), is a grade II listed building situation at the western end of the scenic and historic Dee Valley.

Set within five acres of secluded garden and rolling fields, with magnificent views over the River Dee and valley, Plas Derwen offers a friendly, peaceful and tranquil setting.

The Oak Room overlooking the garden with its ancient oaks and Dee Valley beyond, is elegantly furnished and spacious. Having a double and single bed with the option of an extra single bed makes an ideal family room.

The en-suite bathroom is converted servants quarters built in the eves with exposed beams and views over the cobbled court yard. The bathroom has a large Victorian style bath, toilet, bidet, wash basin and large corner shower cubicle.

The Laburnum Room is also large and elegently furnished. This room overlooks the garden and orchard with hills beyond. It has a double and single bed and can be used as a family room, double or twin. The Laburnum Room is situated opposite the Oak room and together, being the only rooms on that side of the house can make an ideal suite of rooms for families or friends travelling together.

The Laburnum Room has an en-suite bathroom featuring a toilet, wash basin and a roomy double size shower cubicle.

The Wisteria Room features a king size bed and antique furniture. The purple, sweet smelling wisteria frames the georgian windows which looks out across the garden and Dee Valley beyond. This room has a private, large bathroom next door overlooking the rose garden and featuring a marble fire place, bath/shower, toilet and wash basin. The Wisteria also includes two towelling bath robes.

Rooms: All rooms include complimentary Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Herbal Teas, Biscuits, Sweets. Rooms are also equipped with a TV/Video, Hairdryer and Radio/Alarm Clock.

Bathrooms: All bathrooms have a selection of toiletries.

Vegetarians/Vegans & any special diets can be catered for. Please let us know when making your reservation.

Within four kilometers there are local picturesque pubs that provide excellent, reasonably priced food. Travel to Llangollen (taxis can be arranged) to dine at the Cornmill situated alongside the River Dee and marvel at the original and still working water wheel and atmospheric building. Many delicious local dishes are prepared here.

At Plas Derwen, a selection of sandwiches, chips and salads are available up until 8:30pm. Please ask for details on arrival.
