Lugano B & B offers luxury accommodation in a family home situated just off the main A466 halfway between Monmouth and Chepstow in the picturesque village of Llandogo. Just two miles from Tintern Abbey, close to the Forest of Dean, Clearwell Castle (famous for its wedding banquets) and Symonds Yat.
Two rooms – both tastefully decorated with matching curtains and bed linen: One double with en suite bathroom, a small sitting area and private entrance to garden. One double/twin room with private luxury bathroom containing corner bath, washbasin, large corner shower unit, toilet and bidet. A second toilet is available next door to the bedroom. Both bedrooms have colour TV with video, radio/alarm clocks, hair dryers, magazines together with local tourism and leisure brochures. Also tea/coffee making facilities – everything provided.
Lugano has a flower arranger’s garden – landscaped with ponds, patios and a water feature. All the year interest – in summer a mass of colour with hanging baskets and tubs and in spring bulbs and azaleas. Many unusual shrubs and plants including a large collection of hostas. Guests are welcome to sit in the garden – seating provided.
Here in the heart of the Wye Valley, which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it is a walker’s paradise - Lugano is situated on the Wye Valley Walk and just across the river is the Offas Dyke Footpath. Many local walks on the banks of the Wye or through the woods to some of the local beauty spots including Cleddon Shoots, an impressive waterfall after heavy rain.
The area is well served with inns and restaurants with the village pub just two hundred yards away, serving real ales and home cooked food in its re-furbished restaurant, bar and prize-winning beer garden.
By car it is within easy reach of the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean, Slimbridge, Cardiff, Bath, Bristol and Hay on Wye.
After the Norman Conquest a large number of castles were built on the Welsh borders. These include Chepstow, Raglan, Goodrich, Caldicot, Skenfirth, Grosmont and White Castle.
Chepstow Racecourse – home of the Welsh Grand National is less than eight miles away. Race meetings held regularly.
