Aberhiriaeth Cottage, Cemmaes, Machynlleth, Powys

Situated on the banks of the River Dyfi, there are wonderful views along the river valley and there is space for you to take a stroll by the stream, walk the dog or simply sit and enjoy the views.
7 miles to the south west is Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales and the seat of Owain Glyndwrs’ Parliament. Stroll through the street market on Wednesdays, browse around the craft shops or take a walk around the Town Trail.
Sea fishing is available locally, and the Dyfi is one of the finest game fishing rivers in the UK. The cottage is surrounded by wild life, particularly birds, and you will see anything from buzzards to woodpeckers. Over 60 species of bird have been seen from the garden. You may be lucky enough to see Red Kites, a badger or even an otter. The R.S.P.B. reserve at Ynys Hir is about 14 miles away.
Six of the “Great Little Trains of Wales” are within easy reach for a day out, as are a number of castles including Powys with its magnificent gardens. The world renowned Centre of Alternative Technology is just over the mountain.
The cottage is thought to be some 400 years old and our comfortable double en-suite rooms and guests’ lounge are situated in the original cottage with “gothic” windows.
All rooms are centrally heated and have a tea/coffee tray, hair dryer and alarm clock/radio.
Breakfasts are prepared, as far as possible, from local produce. Our eggs are from our own truly free range hens and ducks, and the bacon and sausages are produced on a local farm where the pigs are reared. We serve our own home grown fruit in season and all our preserves and marmalades are home made. Vegetarians can be catered for and packed lunches can be provided on request.
There are a number of local pubs and hotels where excellent evening meals can be obtained.
