Ravenstar is situated on our 4½ acre croft in the township of Vatisker just 7 miles north of Stornoway on the East coast of the Isle of Lewis. Overlooking The Minch, with views to the Sutherland hills in the distance, the central heating and double glazing throughout the house ensure a cosy stay even when the weather is inclement. We now have three guest rooms, one double and one twin with en-suite shower rooms, and a double/family room with a wash basin in the room and seperate private shower room. Tea & coffee making facilities are available in each room and guests are welcome to use the Lounge with it’s T.V and open fireplace. Our generous breakfast menu boasts many items of local produce with home made sausages and bacon when available, eggs from our own hens, and home prepared cereals. Hearty vegetarian breakfasts are also available on request. A home cooked evening meal is available on Wednesday and Sunday and specific dietary needs can be catered for. We aim to use produce from our own croft where possible with other ingredients being sourced locally, freshly caught fish is often on the menu. We can also offer packed lunches on request. During your stay, you may wish to have a relaxing Holistic Therapy treatment. We are able to offer Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Reiki and a booking can be made in advance or upon arrival. Activities: Within a short distance from the house you can be walking on quiet sandy beaches or watching a variety of birdlife. Commonly seen birds here include Ravens, Buzzards, Lapwings, Curlews and a range of shoreline birds. In the summer months you may be lucky enough to hear or even see Corncrakes which nest locally. A few minutes walk from the house is Brevig Pier where local boats still set off to fish for lobster, crab and prawns. The island offers many opportunities for walking among dramatic scenery and there are an amazing variety of landscapes, ranging from the rolling moorlands of north Lewis, through the appropriately named Lochs area and the striking hills of North Harris to the almost lunar landscape of South Harris. There are many historical sites on the Island, with the most famous being the stone circle at Callanish, but a glance at a map of Lewis and Harris will reveal a vast number of other sites, some popular and some almost hidden by time. There are many crafts represented on the islands with potters, woodworkers and artists in many media including our own Ravenstar Forge which produces hand wrought ironwork in traditional and modern designs. Situated within Lochmaddy, the ferry port for Uig in Skye and within 9 miles of Berneray for the ferry to Harris this recently built home, all on the one level with no steps to negotiate, at the side of a fresh water loch, offers attractive & comfortable 4 star bed and breakfast accommodation. Rushlee House has 3 double rooms all with shower en-suite. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and fully equipped with television/video receivers, radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Manor Farm is a beautiful 17th century farmhouse in the quiet village of Alderton, Wiltshire, and is well-placed for exploring the many attractions of the South Cotswolds countryside as well as the elegant Regency city of Bath. Malmesbury, Tetbury, Castle Combe and Westonbirt are all within easy driving distance. Home to the Lippiatt family for many years, Manor Farm offers warmth and comfort coupled with high standards in a relaxed welcoming setting. The bedrooms are spacious and well equipped, and enjoy views across the garden, paddock and village church. The village of Alderton is peaceful and completely unspoiled, with delightful cottages and gardens and a lovingly tended village duck pond. It is perfect for a gentle stroll after breakfast or on warm summer evenings. We have three comfortable and well furnished guest bedrooms, each with a private or en suite bathroom, television, and hospitality tray. The Courtyard Room has a kingsize double bed, and an en suite bathroom with a bath and shower. It overlooks the stable courtyard, where our dogs wander among the flower tubs. The Yellow Room also has a kingsize double bed, and an en suite bathroom (no shower). The lovely view from this room is across the garden towards the restored medieval carp pond and the village church. The Twin Room has a separate private bathroom (no shower), and a hand basin in the bedroom. This room also overlooks the garden and church.
