Abbey Guest House is a multi-award winning, highly accessible B&B, in the historic town of Abingdon-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. We are perfect for a relaxing and tranquil holiday.
This is a very difficult time for all of us and so we must do all we can to help others. In particular we, at Abbey Guest House, are mindful of the Government advice being given and will do everything we can to minimise any potential risks for both staff and guests. Appropriate PPE and cleaning protocols are provided for staff use and hand sanitisers are available for guests to use
We are currently able, under the Government restrictions, to offer a limited service. This means that we are not able to offer the level of service that we would normally provide (i.e. we are not able to offer a welcoming cuppa upon arrival as we have always done in the past!).
For those that are happy to stay with us and accept the restrictions imposed, we are now allowed to offer breakfast but within the guidelines. This has created a slightly reduced service as we are not currently able to offer the cold buffet option. However all appropriate precautions are taken to ensure the safety of both guests and staff during breakfast service.
All of our well-appointed guest rooms have an en suite shower room with access to a communal guest bathroom containing a bath. Room facilities include: TV & DVD player, free security safe, hairdryer, towelling robes, iron and ironing board. A host of extra equipment, aids and information are available as we offer a flexible and responsive service for all ages and requirements. We also have wheelchair-accessible rooms available – please enquire for further details.
You can unwind in the cosy guest lounge which comes with a library of hardback novels and paperbacks. Within the separate dining area, there is also a self-contained area housing a small fridge and microwave that is freely available for guest use.
Our guest house offers the perfect start to the day with a delicious breakfast. We use locally sourced produce for our full English breakfast and Fair-Trade products where possible. A range of options are provided, including eggs benedict, vegetarian dishes, kippers, as well as porridge, fruit, toast and croissants.
We have various National Accessible Scheme Ratings (M2, M3i, H1 and V1), as well as now being members of the Welcome Scheme (we officially welcome walkers, cyclists and families!).
From just outside Abbey Guest House, modern accessible buses provide frequent 20-minute journeys to Oxford town centre, coach and railway stations, with fast onward journeys to London, Birmingham etc. Train services from farthest West Wales or Bristol stop at nearby Didcot Station where buses again link quickly to ‘our’ bus stop outside. Great attractions to visit include:
Abingdon County Hall Museum.
Millets Farm Centre.
