Dating back to the 1700s this old Coaching Inn has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment. Our refurbishment programme included creating an additional dining area (which is suitable for private dining, meetings, etc.), installing a new oak bar, a new commercial kitchen and new toilet facilities.
On the first floor, we have created five beautifully appointed B&B rooms, some of which include historic features such as low beams and doors.
We have also refurbished our car park and created a wonderful beer garden that includes its own bar, thus making the garden ideal for private events and functions. Our garden includes fantastic paving, raised decking and quiet corners. Our carefully considered planting scheme includes many culinary fruits and herbs and for our bar and kitchen.
We are located in the heart of Whitchurch, a historic market town in Shropshire and just a few miles from the borders of Cheshire and Wales. Whether you are visiting for a pint, a meal or staying overnight we look forward to welcoming you. The Wheatsheaf is a friendly place where you can walk through the door and feel a warm welcome.
Full of charm and character, we hope that The Wheatsheaf is a place where everyone can rest, relax and recuperate. In cooler months you can enjoy our open fire, perhaps with a beer or wine.
Whitchurch is a friendly town that has a warm and inviting atmosphere. There are many independent shops and restaurants and there is easy access to parks, mosses, the Shropshire Union canal (we are a short drive from our local marina), the sandstone trail and many historic places.
We have a local railway station with direct and fast routes to Crewe, one of the UK’s main railway hubs. We are just a 30-minute drive away from Chester, Shrewsbury or Wrexham and a 45-minute drive from Liverpool and Manchester. The North Wales coast is also just a 45-minute drive away.
