Pry House Farm and Shepherd's Hut near Keld in North Yorkshire offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a traditional Swaledale farmhouse. We are situated in Upper Swaledale in an unspoilt and dramatically beautiful corner of the Yorkshire Dales. The acres of wide open spaces, mountains of fresh air, oodles of peace and tranquillity, ensures a relaxing and revitalising stay is had by all. Pry House is a working hill farm. Depending on the time of year you visit we may be lambing, hay making, shearing, walling - there is usually something happening on the farm.
Twin BedroomTwo single beds with quality pocket sprung mattresses, lovely linen and dreamy duvets that guarantee a good nights sleep during your stay with us. The twin room is furnished with an antique wardrobe and dressing table and has views over the meadows and pastures. Tea/coffee making facilities are supplied in the room. The twin room has its own large private bathroom with a super deep bath in which to enjoy a long soak. The bathroom is a mere two strides across the landing from the bedroom.
Double En suite RoomThe double en suite room with an extremely comfy king-size bed overlooks the meadows and panoramic views of the fells. Guests are mesmerised by the views from this bedroom and struggle to tear themselves away. There is so much to see depending on the time of year you visit; lambs gamboling, hares boxing, lapwings soaring and swallows gliding. The en suite shower room is spacious and modern with a powerful shower and oodles of hot water. Tea and coffee making facilities are supplied in the room.
Breakfast is taken around the kitchen table in the farmhouse kitchen; the heart of our home. At Pry House, we pride ourselves in providing a traditional Yorkshire breakfast with produce sourced locally from our butchers and greengrocers.
The guest lounge with open fire (winter months only) has an extremely comfortable sofa and chairs and is a lovely room in which to relax, watch TV, read and reflect on the activities of the day or plan what to do tomorrow. Both our guest rooms are accessed via a private staircase, making Pry House Farm ideal for families or two couples holidaying together.
We have a Shepherd’s Hut next to the B&B which offers nightly stays - please see website for details.
Our bed & breakfast is situated 2 miles west of the tiny hamlet of Keld in Upper Swaledale. Keld has a tearoom, Information Centre and small hotel. Beautiful and unspoilt, Keld is on the crossroads of two major long distance walks; Coast to Coast and Pennine Way. There are many cycle routes both on and off-road and dozens of footpaths and bridleways to explore. Pry House Farm is the closest B&B to Ravenseat, home of the Yorkshire Shepherdess and her family. Keld has the highest concentration of waterfalls in England. The waterfalls are a spectacular feature on the many pretty walks in the area and an excellent resource for 'wild swimming' enthusiasts. Tan Hill Inn, 5 miles away, is the highest pub in England. Lots of good, traditional pubs, tearooms and other quality eating places are very close by.
