Description

Lowther House is a tranquil bed and breakfast at Newbridge in North Yorkshire. As well as offering homely accommodation in beautiful surroundings, it also has a tea garden on site which is open to both residents and non-residents. Newbridge is a short drive from Pickering and close to many of North Yorkshire’s attractions.

The stone house is 200 years old and stands on part of the Duchy of Lancaster Estate. It is set at the end of a long drive, in a clearing of the Pickering Woods. The location gives it a real country feel, whilst being only a 15 minute walk to Pickering town centre.

Guests are very welcome to enjoy the gardens. Come and relax by the babbling beck in our tea garden. Enjoy a cream tea, slice of homemade cake and a brew all in the comfort of the grounds of the accommodation. Train enthusiasts will be glad to know that the North York Moors Railway runs quite close to the garden and steam trains pass by many times a day.

Stepping outside the gate you are already at the start of one of the many local walks. You can walk right into the North York Moors National Park from here. There are 'back in time' experiences like Beck Isle Museum, Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton le Hole, Eden Camp and of course the most popular attraction for visitors to Pickering - The North York Moors Railway with the station just a ten minute walk away (view the trains from our garden). 23 miles South West you will be in the historic city of York with endless things to see and do. If you wish to visit coastal seaside towns, you can choose between Whitby or Scarborough both have a historic interest in the Abbey at Whitby and Scarborough Castle and a history of fishing,
