The Bishop & The Bison offers unique and luxury accommodation in York. Our boutique hotel in North Yorkshire is perfect a romantic getaway, a special break for the York Races or for those wanting to explore this historic city.
Our magnificent hotel has been refurbished to offer high-quality accommodation, ensuring your stay is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. The property dates from 1875 and has been sympathetically and tastefully updated in the style of Americana à la Victoriana.
We have 8 lavish bedrooms to choose from, four themed for the Bishop and four themed for the American Bison. We offer a delicious and hearty breakfast in The Bishopthorpe Dining Room. To greet you is our herd of bison, called Nebraska, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana, whilst Mr President Abraham Lincoln sits proudly over the marble fireplace. We use the finest quality ingredients and offer an al carte menu for a hot breakfast. You can also enjoy a great selection of quality cereals, nuts, yoghurts and dried fruits.
You can relax and unwind in The President’s Lounge, our very own saloon on the first floor. We offer a happy hour every day from 5.30 pm when guests can enjoy a beverage from a pre-selected range of wine, beer and soft drinks.
