The Inn at Brough offers award-winning accommodation in a stunning part of Cumbria. Our inn is nestled at Brough near Kirkby Stephen, in the Upper Eden Valley. We are ideally located for those who want to visit the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors National Park, Lake District National Park and Hadrianís Wall. The area has a wealth of activities that will suit all ages.
Our aim is to provide a place where guests can rest and relax in luxurious and comfortable surroundings. All of the rooms have been finished to the highest of standards, with our communal areas being popular with both residents and non-residents alike.
Luxury Suites: We have two superb, large luxury suites with amazing en suite bathrooms. The Castle Suite has a separate dressing area and a large sitting space; the Lady Anne Clifford Suite also has a separate sitting room. Both have beautiful views over to Brough Castle and the surrounding fells.
Disabled Bungalow: Being a listed building, facilities for the disabled traveller have been extremely difficult to provide. However, we do now have a bungalow adjacent to the car park available with wheelchair access and fully compliant disabled fittings. The rooms and en suite wet rooms are fitted out to the same high standard as the rest of the Inn.
First Floor Rooms: All our first floor rooms are fully equipped with work areas and furnished to the highest standards. The en suite Villeroy and Boch bathrooms are equipped with showers or baths or both. Views are over the historic Brough Main Street or the Fells behind.
Coach Rooms: The rooms are in part of the Inn which was used as a coach house and stables from the time when the Inn was a stopover for horse-drawn coaches en-route from the North and Scotland down to the East coast and the South.
Our aim is to provide the highest quality seasonal food in the area. To this end, most produce is sourced direct from local farmers and suppliers. The menu changes regularly and caters for even the most discerning diner. We feature occasional special dishes by our chefs. Our wine list is small but comprehensive; all our wines are reasonably priced and chosen to complement our menus. The house wines are great value for money and definitely out of the ordinary. On Sundays, we serve a full traditional Sunday lunch featuring the finest roast meats priced at £10.00 in addition to our usual menus. The bar caters for everyone, darts, music, bar snacks and of course premium beers, lagers, ciders and traditional cask conditioned ales with an expanding collection of single malt whiskies.
The village of Brough is on the site of the Roman fort of Verteris and the inn used to serve as a stopover for coaches between Carlisle, Penrith and York. It has been totally refurbished and restored to its former glory with sumptuous en-suite bedrooms complimenting the mouth-watering food. We can assure all our guests of the warmest of Cumbrian welcomes.
