Kirkholm B&B offers wonderful guest house accommodation in the quaint village of Carsphairn. We are ideal for a relaxing and peaceful break in Dumfries and Galloway.
Our guest house has 3 letting rooms on the first floor; 1 double en suite and 1 twin room and 1 single room sharing a bathroom. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities.
On the ground floor is a guest lounge/breakfast room with Freesat TV, a DVD player and a selection of DVDs. Part of the garden is also for guest use. Attached to the house is a large garage for secure storage of bikes/motorbikes.
The village is on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park and is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing and bird watching. Horse riding is available nearby. Carsphairn is close to the Southern Upland Way and the Red Kite Trail. It is on the Galloway Tourist Route to Ayr from Gretna and the Burnís Trail, which follows many places frequented by Robert Burns and runs from Dumfries to Ayr. From Carsphairn it is possible to visit Edinburgh, Glasgow or the Isle of Arran for a day trip.
In the village itself, there is a Post Office/tea- room/general store and a Heritage Centre with local history information. In both you will find brochures on the many places of local interest as well as transport information and local maps. Behind the village there is an excellent river for trout fishing in season. This is by private agreement with the landowner. Permits are available from the Post Office in the village for fishing at other areas close by.
